Shorewalkers has produced a map/guide to an important part of the Hudson River shore called BATT TO BEAR: WALKING THE HUDSON FROM THE BATTERY TO BEAR MOUNTAIN. The BTB TRAIL links New York Harbor at Battery Park to Bear Mountain over 50 miles north by a fascinating route along the Hudson River. This estuararine walk connects New York and New Jersey cities to scenic wilderness upstate through varied urban geological and ecological regions. It traverses twelve parks along the way, as well as four riverine towns. The four-color, 8 ½" x 39", 9-fold BTBT brochure contains one continuous map plus 13 detailed maps of areas along the way, 16 photographs, contact information, as well as useful and practical information for tourists, hikers, local walkers and saunterers.

The development of the BTB TRAIL was made possible through small grants from the Hudson River Foundation and New York State Assembly Legislators from New York City. Residents and Hudsonophiles in the Hudson River Valley could use the BTBT Map/Guide to promote the river and the valley. It will inform everybody about the recreational and economic opportunities that one can find along the Hudson.

The Shorewalkers, a not-for-profit environmental and walking group, plan to print the finished colorful BTBT Map/Guide in the fall of 2002.
